How to configure the scanner to start scanning just by pressing the [Scan] button on the scanner.

There are two ways to configure:

• Using ScanSnap Manager for fi Series
• Using PaperStream Capture

Using ScanSnap Manager for fi Series

[Configuration Instructions]

Step 1
Install the ScanSnap Manager for fi Series.

You can install the ScanSnap Manager for fi Series from the Setup DVD bundled with the target scanner. If the application is not included in the Setup DVD, you can receive the installer of the application from fi Series Software Downloads .

Step 2
Launch ScanSnap Manager for fi Series.

For Windows® 7 or earlier
[Start] menu → [All Programs] → [ScanSnap Manager for fi Series] → [ScanSnap Manager]

For Windows® 8
Right-click the Start screen, and select [All apps] on the app bar → [ScanSnap Manager] under   [ScanSnap Manager for fi Series].

For Windows® 8.1
[↓] on the lower left side of the Start screen → [ScanSnap Manager] under [ScanSnap   Manager for fi Series]. Move the mouse cursor to display [↓].

Step 3
With a document loaded in the feeder, scanning starts by pressing the [Scan] button on the scanner.
Note:
In the default setting, ScanSnap Manager for fi Series does not start up automatically after booting the computer. You need to add ScanSnap Manager for fi Series to [Startup] by the following procedure for auto startup.

For Windows® 7 or earlier
[Start] menu → [All Programs] → [ScanSnap Manager for fi Series] → [Add to Startup]

For Windows® 8
Right-click the Start screen, and select [All apps] on the app bar → [Add to Startup] under   [ScanSnap Manager for fi Series].

For Windows® 8.1
[↓] on the lower left side of the Start screen → [Add to Startup] under [ScanSnap Manager   for fi Series]. Move the mouse cursor to display [↓].

Using PaperStream Capture

[Configuration Instructions]

Step 1
Install the PaperStream Capture.

You can install the PaperStream Capture from the Setup DVD bundled with the target scanner. If the application is not included in the Setup DVD, you can receive the installer of the application from fi Series Software Downloads .

Step 2
Create a new profile with the PaperStream Capture in this step:

1. Click the [Config] button in the Menu Area.
2. Click the [Create] button in the [Config] window.
   
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to create a Profile.
4. Under the [Scan] Tab, Click [Image Quality Check Options] button and select [Automatic release (no image check)]. Select the check boxes of [Minimize application window during scanning] and [Exit application after scanning].
5. Click the [Save] button after the document profile settings are completed.
   
   Then a new document profile is created and appears on the [Config] window.
   

Step 3
Allocate the new Profile for the Event of scan button in this step:

1. Click the [Config] button in the Menu Area.
2. Click the [Create] button in the [Config] window.
   
3. Click the [Settings] button next to [Events].
   
4. Select the document profile created just now in [Actions] for [Scan] and press the [OK] button.
   

Step 4
Set an application that runs when the [Scan] button is pressed to PaperStream Capture with the settings of the scanner driver in this step:

Note:
This is an example when using Windows® 7. The screen display and operation may be different depending on the operating system.

1. Open the [Devices and Printers] window.
2. Right-click the fi Series scanner and select [Scan properties] from the context menu.
   
3. Click the [Events] tab in the Properties dialog.
4. Select [Start this program] and set PaperStream Capture for the program.
5. Click the [OK] button.
