Follow the instructions in <How to Configure the Windows Operating System> and <How to Configure an Application> below. For scanners connected via network, refer to this article.
- Log in to the computer as a user with Administrator privileges.
If no scanner driver is installed, install it beforehand. - Make sure that the scanner and computer are connected by USB before turning on the scanner.
- Click the [Start] menu on Windows > [Control Panel] > [Devices and Printers].
- Right-click on the scanner icon, and select [Scan properties] from the displayed menu.
- In the [Events] tab in the scanner properties window, perform the following procedure.
i. From the [Select an event] drop-down list, select the Scan button.
ii. From the [Start this program] drop-down list, select the application to be launched when the Scan button is pressed.
Example: The following is an example of setting PaperStream Capture to launch when the Scan Button is pressed.
- Click the [OK] button to save the settings.
To check whether your application supports the function that allows it to be launched with a button, refer to the user's guide of the application.

- Click [Start] menu on Windows > [PaperStream Capture] > [Administrator Tool].
- Select the [Usability] tab. For the [Scan] in [Event], select the job to be used when the [Scan] button is pressed.
- Save the settings with the [Save] button, then close the administrator tool.
- Press the [Scan] button on the touch screen or operator panel and confirm that scanning starts.
