Symptom
An error may occur when the following tools start on Windows 11.
(Models concerned: fi-7300NX/fi-8290/fi-8270/fi-8250/fi-8190/fi-8270/fi-8150/SP-1125N/SP-1130Ne/SP-1130N /SP-1120N.)
The error is due to the WIA service which is confirmed to fail infrequently on Windows 11.
- The following error occurs when starting the setting screen of IP Address Setting Tool.
Message: This scanner is being used by another user or application. (ERS0000-002) - The following error or a similar error occurs when starting the setting screen of Certificate Registration Tool.
Message: Failed to connect to the scanner. (ERS0004-0)
Workarounds
Try either workaround to start the WIA service again:
a. Restart the computer

Exit IP Address Setting Tool and Certificate Registration Tool.

Restart the computer.
*Restart the computer and log in as a user with administrator privileges. Wait a few minutes (about 2 to 5 minutes) for the startup process to finish, and then perform the following operation. -
Start IP Address Setting Tool or Certificate Registration Tool.
b. Manually restart the WIA process

Start [Services] from the Windows Start menu.

Right-click Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and select [Restart].
*If this service is not started, select [Start]. -
Confirm that the status of this service is [Running].

Start IP Address Setting Tool or Certificate Registration Tool.
